Hey! On a whim (and thanks to Ruth bringing the first to my attention), I'm sharing a couple of big-screen 2013 releases that I'm *dying* to see! Both look spectacular albeit for different reasons!

Ohhhh yay on both accounts! I loved Red (the first one) and thought it was so funny and Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark -yes please... Can't wait to see that one too!!!! :) Thanks for sharing these!
ReplyDeleteI know, right!? The first Red was totally unexpected and yet, I absolutely loved it then there is RDJ in Iron Man 3 - he plays that role so well, how could we not be excited?
DeleteThanks for visiting, Jeanine!
This year is going to be AMAZING for movies! :)
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more, Ruth - and these are two of the reasons why! :)
DeleteThe one I can't wait for is Captain America in 2014. :D But this year? My biggest excitement is about "Hobbit: the Desolation of Smaug". I feel like there was another one coming out too, something on another work of classic literature...but I can't remember. And Iron Man -- didn't love the first one, haven't seen the second (YET), but I am looking forward to the third. :)
ReplyDeleteThat should be a great one (CA2), Charity. What I'm most excited about is who his love interest will be since Lady Sybil (Jessica Brown-Findlay) is rumored to be among the names being considered. It would be so fun to see her in something.
DeleteThe Iron Man series isn't always a favorite with fans - I think because he's such a jerk at times - but I thought they were still fun. :)
So many are thrilled about the second "Hobbit" movie. At least those are only set for a year apart instead of two - that's improvement! :)
So excited for Iron Man 3!! Never saw Red though... Also looking forward to Catching Fire, ST: Into Darkness, and The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug! :D
ReplyDeleteAs am I, Rosie! This third one looks like one of the most "intense" and serious yet.
DeleteRed was one of those unexpected surprises that wound up being so good. I'm thinking about seeing Catching Fire in theaters unlike THG and then there is Star Trek. So many cannot praise it enough - may have to look into it.
I am so looking forward to watching Iron Man 3 and the whole upcoming Avengers movies. Pretty excited for Catching Fire, City of Bones...am I missing anything...but nothing beats The Desolation of Smaug. And we all have to wait till the very end of the year for it.
ReplyDeletePart three of the Iron Man trilogy looks to be the most intense yet, Jemimah. It'll be interesting to see Tony's serious side. Thinking of seeing Catching Fire on the big-screen and am quite curious about the "City of Bones" movie also. (Really like the lead actress.)
DeleteAt least there is a "good thing" about the second "Hobbit" movie - it's only a year later as opposed to the usual two to five. That's a plus, right!? :)
Beautiful Creatures
ReplyDelete(The book was BORING, but the movie looks good.)
Star Trek: Into Darkness
(Spock! Kirk! Uhura! Benedict Cumberbatch's sexy voice filling my theater!)
Red 2
(I LOVE this franchise.)
The Hobbit 2
(... WHY MUST WE WAIT SO LONG???)
Believe it or not, 'Creatures' also has piqued my interest. Don't know why save for its impressive cast. You all have made me curious about the Star Trek flicks also and then there is Red 2! It looks hilarious! CANNOT. WAIT.
DeleteIf there is a silver lining to the second "Hobbit" it's that it comes out only a year later as opposed to the usual two to five of most franchises. I sympathize with you though. :/
I hope it manages to escape the curse of the YA-novel-to-big-screen and actually has decent acting in it -- most adaptations of YA novels kind of... stink.
DeleteStar Trek is probably the greatest reboot of a franchise EVER. The film is hilarious, well-plotted, intense, and has great characters. It totally avoids the corniness of the original series. I rewatched it last week and had to laugh, though, because I went, "Why does Kirk's dad look familiar? WHO IS THAT? Come to find out -- it was Chris Helmsworth, before anyone knew who he was."
I've been through the waiting a year between franchise installments before -- did it twelve years ago with the original Lord of the Rings. Doesn't mean the wait gets any easier, particularly when something is as magnificent as this.
That can be awkward - the photos sure look pretty! If nothing else, we'll have that to look forward too. :O
DeleteNo way! That is awesome about Chris! Didn't know he was in that one. Since I like so many of the cast - well, okay, Chris Pine mainly - I am thinking of seeing it. Anytime humor mixes well with some serious action, I'm in. ;)
No, I'd not imagine it does. I know exactly what you mean about waiting, only it has to be nicer just knowing that it's only a year instead of two-five. The waiting is always the hardest and yet for all our whining, it comes all too quickly!:O
RENT STAR TREK. RENT STAR TREK. RENT... ;)
DeleteNormally, I don't tell people to rent sci-fi movies, but I think this one is good enough to transcend the fact that it is sci-fi. It's just a good movie! And I can't wait for the sequel in May. J.J. Abrams has said some wonderful things about Benedict's performance -- so I can't wait to see him play a full-blown baddie.
DUDE. If I could track down Doctor Who and hijack his time machine -- I'd go a year into the future and see The Hobbit movies. =P
...well, if you insist. ;)
DeleteI don't know if I recommend any particular genre of movie or not but did tell my cousin he should rent Battleship after hearing him say it looked like disaster. Then there is Liz. She has adamantly said she cannot take any more Transformer-like movies, so I wouldn't even try to change her mind. No doubt seeing Benedict in the sequel will be fun - I suspect you and Carissa will make an outing out of that. :)
Ooooh! You have concocted a grand plan. Now to carry it out...
Are you insinuating that Carissa and I will be taking a day off work to see Star Trek together? If so... you'd be right, we already have it planned. Now, to contain ourselves from squeeing, banging our fists on the armrests, and jumping up and down throughout the entire movie...
DeleteIndeed I am suggesting that. Nothing to be ashamed of, methinks. ;D
DeleteHope you ladies enjoy it! I have some thoughts on the first one but am not quite sure which way they ultimately lean...
*sigh*
Just another thing to get written up. :)
Oh! Heavens, please do try to contain yourself while watching this sequel on the big-screen. Or not! It's more fun not to, right!? :D
I havent't seen the first Red and Iron man movies, but I've heard they are good. I am looking forward to Oz,the great and the powerful, Jack the Giant Slayer, the next Hobbit movie, and Thor 2.
ReplyDeleteOh, gosh! Red is so hilarious, Ella - don't know what it is about it but to quote my friend, any chance we get to see Helen Mirren with a machine gun, it's amusing. :)
DeleteIron Man is a fun franchise much like Thor is. I've not looked into 'Jack the Giant' yet and there are legions of fans who are *dying* to see the second 'Hobbit.'
So many great things coming out this year! Great-looking anyway, we'll have to wait to find out if they're actually great. I really hop to see the following in the theater:
ReplyDeleteOz the Great and Powerful (March 8)
42 (April 12)
Iron Man 3 (May 3)
The Great Gatsby (May 10)
Star Trek: Into Darkness (May 17)
The Wolverine (July 26)
Thor 2: Dark World November 8)
The Hobbit 2: Desolation of Smaug(Dec. 13)
I probably won't make it to all of those, since I have 3 little kids and my theater visits are touch-and-go sometimes. But I HAVE to see Iron Man 3, The Wolverine, Thor 2, and The Hobbit 2 in the theater at least once each. It's a moral imperative.
You've got some good ones listed here, Hamlette. Most I've heard of save for the second tile and the first looks like imaginative fun - it should be an impressive showing on the big-screen.
DeleteThough I don't have kids, I understand not getting out to everything. It just doesn't happen - life intervenes. :) Hope you wind up getting to those! Iron Man 3 looks like the most "serious" but still awesome!
Thank you SO much for the follow and comments - love that you have a blog dedicated to Deanna Durbin! She was such a darling film star. :)
I totally forgot Iron Man III was coming out. I saw the trailer a couple monthes ago-it seemed pretty dark, but I guess the other ones were too; it is just easy to forget that between his smart aleck attitude and the fluffiness of the Avengers.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I had to mention, especially since I now recognize your header and sometimes profile photos, that I have watched and adored Castle. My sister mentioned it months ago and I saw your reviews months ago, so when I had a change at a TV and saw it whilst flipping through channels, and I got hooked. It was a replay of old ones, but I have seen a couple new ones via the ABC app. I am bummed it isn't on Netflix because I am rather a chronological person, and I like seeing all the baby steps in relationships.
Actually I think this one looks the "darkest" of all three. The other two seemed a bit lighter whereas the third (and rumored last) looks like Tony is at risk of losing Pepper as well as his own life. This simply CANNOT happen - he has to return to the team of Avengers. Everyone knows that's a must. :)
DeleteThe darker tones of the movies is easy to forget - Tony could school anyone with that attitude! ;D
WAY cool! Love that so many are being introduced to the awesome-ness of Castle, Livia Rachelle! It's a fun, delightful series. Sorry you are unable to see it in order as it is more interesting that way - especially if you are looking for the progression of Castle and Beckett's relationship which gradually blooms into what it is now. Check Amazon. I know you can rent/buy some TV series via a download. (I believe $1.99 per episode or $14.99 per season.) I sincerely hope you are able to find the seasons (also, many find success at libraries) and continue to enjoy the fun crime drama. :)
I want to see G.I. Joe Retaliation, Thor 2, Iron Man 3 and...the Wolverine (I hadn't heard much about it but I want to see anything involving Wolverine :D), catching Fire I suppose, later in the fall. Even if I'm not THAT excited about it. :/ Sierra
ReplyDeleteKeep growing beautiful!
Ah, yes! So do I, Sierra. Aside from a few spoilers I've read about G.I. Joe 2, it looks really fun. Agree with the rest of what's on your "to-see" list. Never did see any 'Wolverine' movies though and I'll see the new HG movie also - maybe in theaters this time. :)
DeleteNot in theaters for me... I'll just wait :P I haven't seen the "Origins" movie, but I've seen X-Men & X2. Sierra
DeleteKeep growing beautiful!
Since I didn't mind the first movie, it may make for a fun outing if my cousin would want to see it. We'll see. November is a long way off yet. :)
DeleteIf/when I start the X-Men trilogy, the 'Origins' flick may be the one I start with. :)
I actually wanna see that Mama movie :)
ReplyDeleteThat's one I've not read anything of, Katie. Hope you end up liking it. Thanks for the comment. Visit anytime. :)
